How Can I Make Hair Washing Easier?
Washing your toddler’s hair is not as easy as it was when she was just a little baby. It is not uncommon for the sweetest toddler to scream the house down when it comes to washing hair. Here are a few tips to help you overcome this traumatic experience:
-
Many toddlers would simply refuse to co-operate by hanging over a bath or basin to wash hair. Try washing her hair in the bath before using body soap.
-
Let your child play with jugs and sieves in the bath. Let her pour water into the sieve and watch it pour out through the tiny holes. Encourage her to pour the water on her own head. Hold a face cloth to her eyes, as although you may be using shampoo that claims to not burn, it is the sensation of having the water in her face that causes the trauma.
-
Use a child friendly shampoo. A good, genuinely organic range especially for babies and children is available through Toptots outlets.
-
Encourage your child to put the shampoo on herself, pour a bit into her hand and let her help to work it into lather.
-
Do not overdo the hair washing. Once a week is fine for a toddler unless she gets into a sticky mess.
-
You can buy a special visor that helps to stop the water from running into her eyes.
-
Let her wash your hair regularly.
